2013 in white and black

As tends to happen at this time of year, I've become retrospective. Sorting through my photo files is a painstaking but enjoyable way to relive my year, and has led me to attempt to choose my favourites of the black and white images that I shot in 2013. In a fabulous travel year that took me to Argentina in April, and Switzerland, France, Germany and Holland in September, I had no shortage of photographic opportunities and inspirations.

Random Acts of Kindness - What will yours be?

Many businesses, schools, organizations and individuals have taken up this “call for kindness” with close to 70,000 Random Act of Kindness Day cards circulating around the community for the 4th Annual Random Act of Kindness Day for Niagara on November 1st. The cards encourage the cardholder to perform a simple act of kindness for someone – a neighbourhood, a friend, a co-worker, or someone they don’t even know – and hand the card over to that person – encouraging him/her to do the same.

Inspired by Chardonnay

In honour of #CanadianWineDay today, we planned to open a bottle of Southbrook Vineyards 2011 Whimsy! “Sirugue” Chardonnay to have with dinner. But what to make for dinner to do this wine justice? With a couple of half-pieces of leftover pork tenderloin in the fridge, I figured we had more than enough for a dinner for two. I love fennel with pork, so wanted to incorporate that.
